AI Overview & Citation Checker
Ranking and getting cited are two different games already. Check whether a keyword triggers a Google AI Overview, who it quotes, and whether that one is you — or somebody below you in the results.
Live Google data. Free live searches got a daily limit — keywords you just checked come from cache and cost nothing.
Win the link, lose the answer
When Google shows an AI Overview, it answers the question right there on the results page and cites a handful of sources. Those citations don't just follow the top 10 — a page at position 8 can get quoted while position 1 kena ignored, and sites that don't rank at all can still show up as sources. If you rank but never get cited, the traffic goes to whoever got quoted. That gap is what this tool measures.
Frequently asked questions
Why I rank number one but still not cited?
Because the AI Overview is not chosen by rank. It picks passages it can lift and attribute — a clear, self-contained answer to the question being asked. A page can rank first on links and authority but still got no passage worth quoting. That one is an answerability problem, not a ranking problem.
Every keyword got AI Overview or not?
No, and that is useful info. They cluster on informational and question-type queries, and are rarer on transactional ones. If your keyword shows no AI Overview, ranking still gets you the click — the classic SEO game still intact for that term.
Why some sources show a name instead of a domain?
Google sometimes gives an opaque redirect token instead of a real URL for a citation. When that happens the actual link cannot be known, so this tool shows the source name Google gave (for example Reddit) and will not anyhow invent a domain or a link for it.
These results live or not?
Yes, they come from a live Google search for the country you pick. Same keyword and country combinations are cached for six hours, so repeat checks are instant and don't eat into the free daily limit.
So how to actually get cited?
Give the engine something clean to quote: a question-shaped heading, a direct answer under it in about 60 words, and FAQPage schema around it. The AEO Checker on this site grades a page on exactly that and generates the schema for you.
