301 vs 302 redirects

302 and 301 redirects affect SEO differently:

Types of redirects

  • 305 Use Proxy (deprecated): A 305 Redirect indicates that a requested resource must be accessed through the proxy specified in the Location header.
  • 306 Switch Proxy (no longer used): A 306 Redirect was defined in earlier versions of HTTP/1.1 to indicate that subsequent requests should use the specified proxy.
  • 307 Temporary Redirect: A 307 Redirect indicates that the page you're looking for is currently available at a different address, but it'll still return to the same URL later.
  • 308 Permanent Redirect: A 308 Redirect shows that the page was moved permanently to a URL specified in the Location header.
